| The issue of marriage and family during the period of the Republic of China is an important component of the marriage and family history, there is no case study on this topic yet in the academia field up till now. This article mainly researches the objects in the The Ladies'Journal issued in the Republic of China earlier society. On the basis of collecting, sorting out, summing up and analyzing to a large amount of firsthand information, this article lays particular emphasis on the analysis of text, attempting to use history , sociology ,l aw science ,ethics and psychology, etc. as the theoretical direction, carrying on more comprehensive research to the previous compatriots of the Republic (1912-1931)of China's Marriage and Family .This article first briefly analyzes the marriage. Secondly, it mainly probes into the divorce. Finally the article summarizes and offers appraisal to the other aspects of marriage and family such as the fertility torment of the women, the troubles of the family life, the women's status in the family. The article points out : The issue of marriage and family in the earlier Republic of China(1912-1931), to a great extent, pounded at the old social marriage structure, promoted the democratic and freedom concept of the marriage and family going deep into every body's mind, and it also had positive effect on the modern times'Emancipation of women. The great contribution of the intellectuals'exploration was to advocate the individual doctrine ;it liberated the youth generation ,made them think individually ,learnt how to choose their own way of life and also promoted the social transition of the earlier Republic of China to some extent. |
