Toward The Development Of China's Voluntary Services

Volunteering is a new occurrence in modern China which springs into growth after coming to birth, due to the progress of China's reform and opening policies, the improvement of market economy and increasing and better development of transformation and modernization of China. At the same time, so many factors contribute to the development of volunteering in China, such as the encouragement and promotion of government, the development and its increasingly focused aspects of volunteer organization, the growth of civil society, and the massive reportage of media and scholars' interest in volunteering. What's more, on account of the excellent performance of so many volunteers in Beijing Olympic Games and EXPO in Shanghai, the values of volunteering has become apparent and its meaning, value and so on have been accepted by the mass. Consequently, how to promote the development of volunteering has become the focus.Based on such an aim mentioned above, the paper, following the principle of the combination of logic and history, analyzes the process of volunteering in the history of China and in the history of western countries, pays attention to their different characteristics and heterogeneous cultural background, and lays emphasis on its advantages and disadvantages. In doing so, pushing forward volunteering in China is the object.Apart from the history, cultural background and comparison and contrast of volunteering, special attention is paid to the relationships between volunteering and China's culture, between volunteering and human's development, between volunteering and the building of civil society (individual identities). In addition, the paper will point out the way for supervision, assessment and special service.The paper is divided into three parts. In part one, the history of volunteering in ancient China has been narrated and traditional thoughts and theories about volunteering have been critically inherited. In part two, volunteering in modern China during China's transformation from traditional society to modern society has been narrated and the background, condition, contribution and so on of China's volunteering has been analyzed. In part three, the future trend has been analyzed, including the study motivation of volunteering, institution and mechanism of volunteering. By analyzing the process of volunteering, analyzing advantages and disadvantages of volunteering in China, predicting its institution and mechanism, the author wants to achieve the following aims that we can promote the development of volunteering in China that we can arouse interest in the study and that we can contribute to the improvement in China.
