With the development of society and medical treatment methods, the incidence of physical illness of children is gradually reduced, however, globally, the mental health development of children and adolescents has become increasingly prominent as indicated by the high rate of emotional, behavioral, and juvenile problems. A recent survey research about youth mental health in the past two decades shows that child behavior problems are on the rise every year and getting more worrisome in China. Emotional and behavior problems can negatively affect the youth mental health and education in the long run if early intervention is not provided .Childhood mental health education has just started in China and is a relatively new career, and there is an increasing need to address childhood emotional and behavioral wellbeing through school curriculum. Sand play, a type of play therapy, has been found to be an appropriate treatment method for children whose language abilities have not fully developed. Research results from numerous empirical studies have found sand play an effective treatment in the last 4 decades. Today sand play has gradually become one of the main treatment methods in child psychotherapy. In China, sand play therapy has started to gain its prominence in youth mental health work.In this research, I explore the applicability, validity, and reliability of a people-joint collaborative sand play model: Yuehong Group sand play. It is developed by Dr. Yuehong Chen Foley to train teachers and students in their classroom learning in a public school in Atlanta, USA. Since 2007, this model has been well received by teachers and students and resulted in increased classroom harmony, academic scores, and decreased teacher stress and classroom conflicts. This study aims to provide a practical model of sand play in the school context, so as to better serve our country's primary and secondary mental health education. The dissertation consists of six chapters to auger over the results of Yuehong group sand tray play for challenging behavior children in lower stage of primary school. I use Conners parents and teacher's scaling to made a contrast observation, The results indicated that Yuehong group sand tray play has played the active role in improving challenging behavior children in lower stage of primary school.
