"retreat Notes" Narrative Studies

"Retreat notes"has become a special case of modern history of literature because of its deep-going thought and unique form. It reflects the unification between poetry and philosophy. At present, the academic circles research"Retreat notes"more from its philosophy and ignore its poetry. This thesis aims to fill up the blank, it researches the form characteristic of"Retreat notes"from the angle of narratology, the specific law of literature reaches metaphysical ontology of Taoism of literature. It is divided into three parts: narrative spirit- narrative style - narrative art and thought of soul.Chapter 1 will study narrative spirit of"Retreat notes", it is also implicitly narrative consciousness and narrative idea of author in the novel. I will clarify difference between narrative ideas of the China and the West and transmutation of modern of narrative ideas in part one. I will study intensively narrative spirit of"Retreat notes"in part two,which is highlighted in interdependence and two-way interactive paradoxical feature of documentary and fiction.Chapter 2 is the keypoint of the thesis. It mainly studies the narrative style of"Retreat notes". It was used alternately between the indicative and the subjunctive narrative mood, paralleled between circular and spiral narrative structure, embedded each other in narrative language between repeated words and dialogue. These narrative characteristics make novel construct story and deconstruct story at the same time, put sense of linear time into spatial structure, and develop abstract philosophizing during poetry with repeated words. These contrary factors are perfectly united in the novel, and form the polyphonic novel of"philosophy, description and dream into a total". [1]Chapter 3 will study the relationship between the narrative art and thought of soul. I will study transformation of narrative art on Shi Tiesheng' s writing career in part one. The relationship between narrative art of"Retreat notes"and the existence predicaments, thought of soul which will be studied in part two, innovation in novel forms is attributed to the author deep thinking in a jam about life and existence.
