The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is the only artery that has bridged northern and southern China. Its transfixion has had a great many effect in cities and towns along the banks. This thesis takes Jining, one of the cities along the canal, as an example. It aims to research the Grand Canal's influence on folk music and to discuss the importance of river transportation to the development of the local music in ancient times. From the river's excavation and repair to the booming of river transportation,it has forms various musical styles in jining. And the prosperity of economy, convenient traffic provide ascendant conditions for jining's communication of music. Its'harmonial cultural outmosphere attracted thousands of foreign actor arrived. The whole article has four chapters, the first chapter is the rival work generates the rival blare. It research from the river's excavation and repair to the booming of river transportation, formated of various musical styles in jining. The second chapter is the river cities'communication and syncretize of music. It research by the river's communication of music,various musical styles have bring in jining. And the new modality combinated with local custom. The third chapter research the recreation ground belong the river. The development of music need the recreation ground, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal promotes the development of economy. Thousands of foreign businessmen were attracted there, they traded or settled down. They brought their local music to Jining by entertainment venues such as artificial mounds, guild halls,tea houses and so on.The thesis apply musicology speculative knowledge,combining the collection for the historical material relevant to music. On the basis of the field syudy, it has an all-round and systematic analysis about the inflences that the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal made on the folk music in jining. Meanwhile, through coming the different types of music, it also enriches and improves the result of theoretical research for the music culture in jining.
