Character development is a process of pictophonetic. The study of Pictophonetic Character, especially research on Pictophonetic character in the Oracle Inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty, deepen our understanding of their own form of Pictophonetic Character, and is also important to understand the development of the entire Chinese system. We have not done deep research on the Pictophonetic Character although there are a few Pictophonetic Character in the Oracle Inscriptions, so we do not have all-round, seientific and direct understanding of the development of the Pictophonetic Character.This paper includes five chapters, as follows:The first chapter is introduction. It introduced the Oracle Phonetic Research and purpose and significance of this study.Chapter Two is about Oracle Pictophonetic. It makes use of the newly-discovered materials on the base of the predecessors'achievements, uses integrated analysis and comparison methods, as far as possible to collect the required data, combines qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis, carries out systematic study and research on the base of detailed data to establish a character table of the Pictophonetic Character in the Oracle Inscriptions.Chapter Three is the produced ways of the Pictophonetic Character. It suggests the produced ways of the Pictophonetic Character on the base of the predecessors'achievements. That is phonetic notation, notation pictogram, pictograph combined with ponetic sign.Chapter Four is the analysis of Oracle Pictophonetic construction system. It analyzes the structural relationships between the pictograph and the ponetic sign of the Pictophonetic Character in the Oracle Inscriptions and inspects these Pictophonetic Characters in a diachronic dimension. Through the comparison between the Pictophonetic Character in the Oracle Inscriptions and the form of small-seal style of Shuowen jiezi , we can deeply research into the variation rule of the Pictophonetic Character.Chapter Five is the culture implication in the pictograph system of the Pictophonetic Character. we can understand the indication fuction and generalization fuction of the pictograph through the research on the system of pictograph of the Pictophonetic Character. In this chapter, we discusses the culture implication in the pictograph system of the Pictophonetic Character in order to deeply understand the Pictophonetic Character and get to know ancient society, the habit and social mind at that time.
