Research Of The Structural System Of The Oracle-Bone Inscriptions

Due to the newly discovered Oracle materials, which excavated at Huayuanzhuang Locus East (花园庄东地) within the Yin Ruins, and the digitization means on the study of Oracle bones in newly, we have to study the research of the structural system of the Oracle inscriptions again.Oracle is at present visible the earliest Chinese characters system. Description of the history of the development of Chinese characters has a starting point only by understanding of the structural system of the Oracle inscription. This is the basis of study for Oracle. Therefore, based on existing research, exhausting up to the latest inscription on oracle bones material, using statistical research tools, and describing the system of the inscription on oracle bones again, have the important meaning of the construction of the platform to the future of the Oracle research and the study of other ancient disciplines.First, the paper made effort to do accurate checking up the quantity of the inscriptions on the existing Oracle bones. Being in a foundation in research, we did the arrangement and corrigendum of the book of A New Compilation of Jiagu Characters(《新编甲骨文字形总表》),then absorbed the new materials, such as Oracle bones excavated at Huayuanzhuang Locus East (花园庄东地), to supplement the actual inscriptions number relative to the existing inscriptions of Oracle bones.Second, based on the adjustment of the original oracle inscriptions, we do the study of the structural system of the Oracle inscriptions with the multi-level statistics and theoretical analysis. Specifically, we sorted out the new material in the existing Oracles and inspected the structural system of the Oracle inscriptions from the variant form of Chinese characters, component, structure even character frequency by using digital means and the introduction of computational linguistics, then to complete the latest quantitative description of the structural system of the Oracle inscriptions.
