Study Poetry In The Late Ming West Lake

The period of Ming dynasty of this paper is from the first year of Chenghua to the 17th year of Chongzhen (1465-1644).The verses of the West Lake reflected portrayed beautiful scene of the west lake, climates and products, folk-customs, urban production and life, the intercourse among poets and the production of urban culture.The first part of the paper analyzed the reasons which contributed to the prosperity of the verses of the West Lake in the period of mentioned before. There were three main factors. First one is the exploiture of the West Lake and the rebuilding of the beautiful scenery of the lake made it become the center of citizen, while supplied the impersonal conditions to the literature produce of the literators. Second one is the culture accumulation of the West Lake. Furthermore, it was also influenced by the thought of social culture in that period.The second part discussed the urban humanistic modality by the verses of the West Lake, which focused on the literature producing activities of the literators and citizens, the beautiful scene, the famous historical sites, also the tourism service pattern of the West Lake. Moreover, the paper followed with interest of the folk-customs, the patterns and thoughts of local social consumption around it.The third part analyzed the artistic characteristics of the West Lake verses, discussing the selecting of the imageries of the lake verses and the meanings in them, the humanistic values in the imageries of the lake. The paper also discussed the creating of the artistic conceptions of the lake, from two aspects below, one is the natural rhythm and affective rhythm, and another is reception of heart from the outside.The epilogue of the paper summarized Jiangnan cultural tradition which reflected by the verses of the West Lake by analyzing the urban humanistic modality and the artistic characteristics .Combined with the epochal and regional characteristics, the verses of the West Lake materialized the aestheticism of the poetic Jiangnan, presented the epicurean sentiments to the life, gave prominence to the urban cultural characteristics of advocating the freedom, which can be traced to the same origin of Jiangnan cultural tradition and spirit.
