In recent years,job burnout has become an important social phenomenon in our country.Chinese scholars have already begun to introduce the burnout theory and started to study it.But most of the burnout researches are limited to helping professions such as teachers,nurses and doctors. Variables are also limited to job satisfaction,job stress,neglecting individual attributes such as personality.So far,it is the background in which this study is carried into execution.This study is to explore the relationship between personality and job burnout by surveying general employees.We hope the results may be helpful for enterprise management.This study uses survey methods so as to achieve following aims:first, to learn the job burnout levels of the employees and compare with the helping professions;second,to explore the impact of different demographic variables on employee' s burnout levels;third,to explore the relationship between personality and employee job burnout;fourth, to explore the effect that the personality has on job burnout of employees.The study takes 158 employees working in several Shanghai manufacturing enterprises as a sample.Some main finds are listed below:1) The employees' job burnout is below the medium level.The situation is not as severe as helping professions.In detail,emotional exhaustion and personalization are obviously below the medium level while personal accomplishment is above the medium level.2) Demographic variables have different impact on job burnout of employees.3) There is a significant correlation between personality and job burnout of employees.4) Personality has a significant influence on job burnout of employees.
