| Cheng Yanqiu was one of the highly successful Dan Qing Yi performing artists of China Peking Opera in its peak, particularly known for the creation of "Cheng School" of singing. The outstanding achievements made by Cheng Yanqiu in his life had created great influence on not only on the practice art of Dan, but also on the development of the arts throughout the Peking Opera. In his life Cheng Yanqiu had played in a series of repertoire, shaping a large number of distinct personality, graceful and inspiring image of women, who possess good tenacity and perseverance in the life of misery; although most of them have ended in tragic fate, they have noble integrity and character, which has left the audience a deep impression.Cheng Yanqiu had also made innovation in Peking Opera, whether traditional operas or New repertory, and he was not conservative, legalistic, but shaped characters according to their own understanding, through transforming and processing, so that the images were of fullness and innovation.This thesis starts with "Suo Lin Nang", analyzing the singing characteristics, thereby further summarizing aesthetic dimensions. The first part of the thesis deals with life of Cheng Yanqiu according to existing historiography reference, and decides on the phases of Cheng Yanqiu's arts activities and social activities. The second part of the article analyzes the scenario and music morphology of "Suo Lin Nang". The third part, applying the basic principles of aesthetics, studies the aesthetic characteristics of Cheng School, comes to accurate, scientific conclusions on the aesthetic features of Chang-qiang and singing of Cheng School. |
