In the jewelry and accessory market,volume-produce lead imitate and plagiarize,and the lack of individuality and humanism is especially serious.The reason of this phenomena is:status of Chinese economy and aesthetic status.So,in allusion to this phenomena,to seek the spirit and culture factor in jewelry and accessory design is more and more important taday. The spirit and culture factor in jewelry and accessory design is different in different culture background.As the immaterial society and information age's coming, the trend of amalgamation and infiltration in culture field is obviously.People will think much of traditions of every nation and characteristic of every area.In this paper,I tried to expatiate the vicissitude history of spirit and culture in jewelry design,both of Chinese and Occident and seek after the spirit in Chinese modern jewelry design. I bring forward the importance of spirit in jewelry design and hope to discover the trend of jewelry design in the future:to cater for the market and popular aesthetic perception or to seek for the spirit culture and more probability in jewelry design?In my opinion,the latter is more important to designer.Jewelry should be not only the symbol of fortune,but also the personal expression of wearer.Jewelry design is not only changes of form but also to pay attention to the humanism solicitude and satisfy the need of people's emotion.When jewelry bear the weight of wearer's emotion and memory,its worthiness will beyond the jewelry itself.In the phenomena of the aesthetic status of China today,it's irresponsible to cater for the popular aesthetic perception.To the contrast, to seek after the sprite in jewelry design is the responsibility of Chinese designer today.
