This research paper concentrates on a thoroughgoing and painstaking analysis of a kind of special typeface—overlapped characters in SHUOWENJIEZI.SHUOWENJIEZI is not only our country's first classical calligraphy book but also the foundation work of the scientific philology and the literature linguistics. Meanwhile as the first systematic calligraphy book that collects overlapped characters, it has provided precious materials for our research.As a special Chinese character, researchers used to pay attention to its construction character way and the significance aspect on the expression content. But there are not many researches on its aspects of construction and the grammatical meaning the construction character ability analysis and. This paper takes the analysis and research on the overlapped characters that examples in SHUOWENJIEZI to make a further understanding.There are four chapters in this paper:The first part is the introduction, which is mainly introduced the situations of SHUOWENJIEZI , the reason why select this topic, the present situation , the Significance of the topic and the writing method etc.The second part makes a overall introduction on SHUOWENJIEZI that includes the classification, part constitution of the construction character, the grammatical meaning that reflected, the construction character ability analysis and its production and development etc.The third part carries an analysis and research on the special character-Associative compounds as one kind of the overlapped characters. The paper mainly makes a discussion through draws supported from Mrs.ShiDingguo's theory that delimited Associative compounds for us .The fourth part mainly through the analysis on the overlapped characters which have two parts and double structures named ER TI DIE WEN and have three parts and three structures named SAN TI DIE WEN discusses people's worship of the number two and three and the utilization of their relative structures.
