Foreign Chinese character teaching has always been a difficult problem in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The author found that the most of Chinese domestic universities rarely open Chinese character class.Chinese characters teaching has been integrated into the comprehensive course or read and write course,so foreign students do not understand the relationship between form and meaning of Chinese characters’ characteristics and the problem appeared to recognize and write Chinese characters.Teaching associative compounds can well reflect the relationship between form and meaning of Chinese characters’ characteristics,so the author based on the literature research and the internship practice of Mongolian students and take a preliminary study of associative compounds applied to the primary stage of Chinese as a foreign language.There are five parts in this thesis.The first part is the introduction.It includes the origin,significance,literature review,research method.The literature review includes two parts,respectively are the literature review that researches the foreign students’ cognitive characteristics of Chinese characters and the literature review that researches associative compounds teaching based on teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The second part is associative compounds problems existing in the teaching in the primary read and write course and the reasons.First,the associative compounds in Developing Chinese Elementary Read and Write CourseⅠⅡare defined and categorized.Then the author summarized the problems existing in the teaching in the primary read and write course respectively from the perspective of teaching materials,teachers and students,and analyzed the causes of the formation of these problems by the study of theory and practice.The third part is associative compounds teaching applied in theprimary stage of Chinese characters teaching of the feasibility study,mainly study through associative compounds teaching conforms to the foreign students’ cognitive characteristics of Chinese characters and the feasibility of associative compounds teaching for teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the primary stage.The fourth part is using the vocabulary of Developing Chinese Elementary Read and Write Course Ⅰ Ⅱ as an example of researching on associative compounds’ teaching,taking teaching method research from two aspects of teaching method research,including associative compounds of vocabulary teaching and summarizes teaching.Taking 84 associative compounds into these teaching methods and giving the part of associative compounds teaching examples.Finally,the author proved the feasibility of these teaching methods through practicing in class.Teaching associative compounds can help foreign students remember the form and meaning of Chinese characters quickly,stimulate the foreign students’ interests of studying Chinese characters.At the same time,it can also help foreign students to understand the relationship between form and meaning of Chinese characters’ characteristics,and understand the principle of Chinese characters more.The fifth part is the conclusion,summarizes the main content of this thesis and the problems has not yet been presented to solve,prospects the application vista of associative compounds teaching in the primary stage of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
