Chen Duxiu Philosophical Studies, And Cultural Ideas

Chen Duxiu has an important position in near modern revolution history,history of thought and cultural history in China. His thought covered the realms of politics, economy, culture, education, and so on. At present, academic circles mainly researches him as a party history person, and the researching emphasis is mainly put on his political thought and evaluation of his contribution and mistake in history. Otherwise, as one of the founders of Communist Party of China, Chen Duxiu's philosophy thought is seldom valued by the scholar. In the cultural aspect, he is also considered as the representative of activism, the focus is usually concentrated on destruction to the traditional culture. This text plans to jump out of this frame, and conduct there search on his philosophy and cultural thought, in order to contribute a meager strength to comprehending Chen Duxiu's thought completely and evaluate his thought properly and deeply.This text includes three chapters totally. In chapter 1,through researching the works of Chen Duxiu, the author refines and induces the basic system of his philosophy thought, analyzes the system and the characteristics of it, and describes its concrete performance in the war of theory with the enemies; In Chapter 2, the author treatise Chen Duxiu's cultural thought. To begin with, the author shows the content of cultural concept and the variety this kind of content. Furthermore, in the order of time, the author divides his cultural thought into three parts: cultural enlightenment in early years, culture claim in May 4^th movement in middle age, and the cultural though in old age. By doing this, the author tries to show Chen Duxiu's thought's processes of cultural reformation in his whole life. Finally, The author tries to induce Chen Duxiu's worth mindset of cultural reformation thought. In chapter 3, taking his attitude to the Buddhism and the Christianity for example, the author Illustrates religion thought of Chen Duxiu. The author thinks Chen Duxiu held religious dualism standpoint and divided religion into two aspects: doctrine and church. This kind of religious dualism thought mainly reflected the society reality which shows saving was important than enlightenment. Therefore, it needs a kind of new evaluation angle of view to analyze true content of religion thought of Chen Duxiu.This text tries to clarify Chen Duxiu's theory of cultural reformation. By Going deep to scoop out his positive assessment on Chinese traditional culture in the process of judging it, the author wants to clarify Chen Duxiu's special value mindset in the conflict between tradition and modern culture, and east and west culture. As an advanced intellectual who maked vigorous efforts to turn the tide during the period when his nation was in perish, although Chen Duxiu's thought was extreme with one-sided composition, he was considering looking for the ways and means to solve the problems of China, and the construction of Chinese future culture. It needs to jump out of the thinking mode of pure activism on evaluating the philosophy and cultural thoughts of Chen Duxiu.At present, in the process of cultural globalization brought by economic globalization, what kind of social culture should we construct? How to regard Chinese traditional culture's function in the modernized progress by the practical point of view and the defined rationality? The research on Chen Duxiu's thought will bring us some enlightenment.
