Other demnstrative , as a category of semantics and cognition, lies in every language. Range meaning is the most basic semantic of other demnstrative and instruction is the most basic function. Chinese and Korean belong to different languages. There are a great deal of similarities and differences in way and means of expressing other demnstrative category. This dissertation, based on the Theory of Semantic-funtional Grammar (SFG) contrasts syntactic funtions, semantic functions as well as textual functions in Chinese and Korean other demnstrative. Besides, the paper attempts to find out similarities and differences of Chinese and Korean other demnstrative.The dissertation devides into five chapaters. The first chapter introduces research purpose, meaning, the content , range and methods. The second chapter , based on Chinese and Korean other demnstrative appearance in syntactic position, devides Chinese and Korean other demnstrative into body morphological feature and adding the morphological feature. The third chapter discusses semantic functions of Chinese and Korean other demnstrative. According to the range complex sentence type which they can appear, Chinese and Korean other demnstrative are divided into added pointing, divided pointing and rested pointing. The fourth chapter compares their coirdinating situation with dimly visible situation from connecting the angle. The fifth chapter is the conclusion, devided into concluding speech and the rest speech. The concluding speech summarizes similarities and differences of Chinese and Korean other demnstrative and the rest speech proposes this dissertation improvements and some problems to be solved.This text uses a large number of language materials and makes every effort to find out generality and corresponding law of individual character of language in the phenomenon from different languages.
