As a pioneer director in Korea , Kim Ki-duk, with his films of "Kim" style, not only established the No.3 status in Korea filmdom, but also aroused attention in the international filmdom since he started his film career in 1996. Some of his films stem from the common thoughts of human being, probe into the morbid or instinct spirit field, and show up vivid extrusion that circumstances imposed on human being and fatalism that human being can't escapes. Audiences always ponder unconsciously and engender strong resonance when they are watching his films, and are deeply startled by his characters' morbid mentalities and extreme behaviors. Kim Ki-duk presents his profoundly perspective on life, humanity and consciousness with his proper rational critical attitude and his orient traditional film language. The dominant idea of Kim Ki-duk is the analysis of human being and the philosophic thinking. The impulsion for Kim Ki-duk to create films is his respect and devotion for life. This thesis includes preface, text and epilogue.
