Fen, as the important category of the Confucian system, the essential connotation of Li, and the indispensable component of the Confucian political philosophy theory, played an important role in the national administration. The emergency of Fen was a process, and its origins had close relations with the sacrifice. Three eras ago, Fen was mainly embodied in the sacrifice. Relied on the conception of ancestral worship, grading orders were incarnated and maintained in a series of sacrifice ceremonies. Ancestral deity is the outside authoritative support, which guaranteed the fulfillment of Fen. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring State Period, the collapse both in Li and Yue in the political area extremely struck the traditional order gradings. Consequently, Confucius and Mencius reconstructed the Li of sacrifice as the spiritualization of internal saint, so the religious character of Li was greatly weakened. Fen, as a concept, became an ethic category with strong human character, and its realization increasingly depends on the cultural and moral consciousness. The anaphase of the Warring State Period is the moment of the integrity of various thoughts. Xun zi, on the base the Confucius and Mencius, reconstructed Li through absorbing the thoughts of other scholars in the Pre-Qin dynasty. Based on the theory of human's evil nature, Xun zi spark plugged thrive Li and strictly abide by Fen, and sufficiently demonstrated the authoritative status of Fen and the relations among the categories of Fen, Group and Virtues, in which, the fulfillment of Fen could be guaranteed from self-discipline and nomocracy.
