Study On Confucian Poetics In Pre-Qin Period

In this paper, the study object is poetics of Confucianism in pre-Qin period, combining with the unearthed materials, on the basic of interpretation of new materials, desired to make some new interpretation for Confucian poetics in pre-Qin period.The whole paper was consisted of foreword, main body and conclusion. The foreword investigates the development and evolution of Confucianism,defines the category of Confucian poetics,introduces the general situation of the study on the subject and the application situation of the book of Songs in pre-Qin period and its influence on Confucian poetics. The main body is divided into three chapters. The first chapter mainly studies on Confucius' poetics, analyze on the relationship of Confucius and the book of Songs and the aim of Poem education of Confucius and the viewpoint of Confucius on Poetry. Combining with bamboo slips of Confucius′Poetics in Shanghai Museum, the core of Confucius′poetics is summarized to two points: political and educational functions and lyrical function. The second chapter studies on Mencius' poetics. On the foundation of carding Mencius' thoughts, analyze Mencius' poetics theory as"judges people and times"and"understanding by heart", points out that the book of Songs was used by Mencius to publicize the ideas of benevolent government and Confucianism. The third chapter explains Xunzi's poetics. Its specific contents include: Xunzi systematically summarized each Confucian school of thought in pre-Qin period. He constructed his own complete poetics theory. The objective of Xunzi's quotation of the book of Songs was for his rite and morality theory. He is the representative of Confucianism politicizing the book of Songs. Concluding remarks summarizes the paper, and point out that the Confucian poetics in pre-Qin period how to influence the later ages.
