The state power of Qing dynasty founded by the Manchu, one of the minorities in China, takes a compromise way between traditional system of the Han nationality and the old system of the Manchu outside Shanhaiguan Pass. The system of selecting officials pay more attention to the banner men, especially to the Manchu banner men. It not only put the system of being reinstated of the Hans and the Manchu into practice, but also originally creates the double methods of selecting. This selecting way makes the Manchu easier to be officials than the Hans. The Manchu do not need concentrate on imperial examination of being an official in Qing dynasty, and the ways provided to them is more varied and wider. The children of the Manchu can take part in imperial examination, translation examination, and physical arts examination, join the army, be a bithesi or an imperial bodyguard. They also can be officials by adopting the title of nobility or hereditary position, which depends on their elder generation' s rank or contribution. Besides, they can be members of the government, which benefits from the emperor' s favor. Meanwhile, these various ways change distinctly in proportion during different periods of Qing dynasty. There are plenty of people who join the army first in the early days of the state. Though there are still many people who join the army first, more and more people participate in the imperial examination or be a civil official by the consolidating, developing, and prosperous in the dynasty of Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qinglong.
