Foreign Words. "modern Chinese Dictionary" Research

In this thesis, we chose the Loanwords in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary ( Edition 1—5 ), as the discussing object. We analyze the recording condition and compare the generality and personality of the loanwords in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary among the five editions. In order to reveal the change of the loanwords in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary in the past half century.There are four parts in the thesis except the introduction and the concluding remarks.The first part is the survey of the loanwords' recording. In this part, we do a static state analyse from the word's source, the translative pattern and the semantic classification, basing on the exhausting statistics of the loanwords in the five edition.The second part is the comparison and the change of the recording condition. We divide this part into two small ones.One is the comparion of the recording condition among the five editions, the other is the analyse of the loanwords in the five edition.The third part is the study of the paraphrase about the loanwords in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary. In this part, we meanly use the thoery and method of lexicograply and semantics to discuss the loanwords' change and the paraphrase in the Dictionary.The forth part is basing on the constrast in the former part, analyze reason of the development and tendency of The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary about the loanwords recording.
