The paper argues about the interpretation and further research on RATIONALITY, which is rooted in the author's concern, reflection and criticism on MODERNITY. More importantly, the author shows special interest on how and from what perspective should we, the modern beings, adhere to the Marxist principles and its core values for successive interpretations from reality, and at the same time, for a quicker response to the complexity of the reality.Since mid and late 1900's, the study of RATIONALITY is protruding as the focus of various disciplines, represented by differed academic schools with different perspectives and standpoints. These differences further make it more complicated than ever for study. As a result, the author tries to clarify his interpretation from a broader horizon: that of human beings and their relations to the world, through which he categorizes four historic formations of how humans view the world, known as formations of 1) world conception through fables, 2) empirical acquisitions, 3) conceptualization, 4) scientific analysis. His thorough and overall interpretation will be based on the imploration and crude discovery of RATIONALITY loaded by the four, so as to reveal its essence for later research in the context of global modernization and anti-modernization.This paper, grounding its prerequisite and argument on Marxism and its basic principles, elaborates itself in four chapters, glimpsed as the follows:Chapter 1 probes into the origin and scopes of the academic study for RATIONALITY, stating as the result of humans' reflection on their relations to the world. For any discussion or research on RATIONALITY, the key perspective will be that of human beings and their relations to the world; the very motivation behind will originate from the reflection and criticisms on their relations. Hence establishes the perspective and arguing points of the paper. In Chapter 2, the author resorts to the above-mentioned categorization of four formations of human beings and their relations to the world. With interactive thinking mode, he voices his own understanding and interpretation on RATIONALITY and others. He continues to make synchronic studies on the changing research focus, therefore, the solutions for new problems and their significance and limitations. Chapter 2 also indicates RATIONALITY, the benchmark and Zeitgeist of the human race, is the essential drive for the progressof the whole human race and its existence, which serves as the historic and logical ground for this paper.Chapter 3 describes and then analyzes the so-called MODERNITY COMPLEX of the human race according to the prescription of RATIONALITY. It helps to reveal the hidden risks and worries of humans (and their relations to the world) under the context of MODERNITY, based on which, the author writes a schema for reconstructing RATIONALITY on the context of MODERNITY, and also with some sketches on its significance and limitations. MODERNITY is a double-edged sword. It liberalizes human beings while making them bounded. Therefore, the Outlook on Ethical Culture of Human is introduced as the starting point and basis for reconstructing RATIONALITY on the context of MODERNITY. And the key lies in the Communist practice. The reconstruction, showing deep concern for the fate of the human race, will be always on its way for fulfillment because of various barriers. Chapter 3 mainly explains how the paper starts from the theory and how it responds to the reality.Chapter 4 briefs on the paradigm of traditional philosophical research and some problems arising from it with a conclusion of the above three chapters. A tentative idea is put forward in the end: to design another paradigm of the philosophical research for the study of RATIONALITY. In conclusion, all philosophical research shall ground on rationality of existing humans and their relations to the world they live in.More than 40,000 characters in total.
