Quality education should be focused on improving students' self-studying ability. Respecting and developing students' self-studying ability are just the core and spirit of quality education. Quality education is to realize the objective, focusing on the education of whole students and the lasting requirements of the society, which pays more attention to the development of students' potentiality. In order to cultivate students' self-studying ability and self-developing ability, teachers should respect their students' position in class, arousing the students' activity to achieve the aim of exerting students' function. For a long time, English teaching has been performed around the teachers, the teaching procedure is from the teacher to the students, which brought about the bad effect. The atmosphere in class is dull, and the students are not active in learning. It's hard for them to exert their studying ability, still it's hard for the teachers to motivate the students' activities.In the room teaching of English, strengthening students' self-studying ability through the student center is a pretty effective way. This thesis illustrates the approach comprehensively from the aspects of both theory and practice, confirming that developing students' self-studying ability is helpful for improving students' school work and drawing their attention to the English study. It has got noticeable achievements from education practice and approved its feasibility.
