Ideological and political theory teaching in all courses means that teachers design activities consciously and purposefully in the teaching process with curriculum as the carrier,integrating ideological and political education into knowledge learning and ability training in an implicit and indirect way,so as to train students into talents needed by the country and society,and fulfill the task of fostering virtue through education.Students in high schools are in an important period for the development of their values,outlook on life and world outlook,and ideological and political education in time will help them understand socialist core values and put them into practice.National English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition,revised in 2020)points out that the general goal of English curriculum in ordinary senior high schools is to fully implement the Party’s educational policy,cultivate the socialist core values,implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education,further promote the development of students’ key competencies of English subject on the basis of compulsory education and finally cultivate socialist builders and successors with Chinese feelings,international vision and cross-cultural communication skills.Therefore,it is necessary to integrate ideological and political education into knowledge learning and ability training in senior high school English curriculum.The study intends to combine subjective factors with objective factors,and takes English reading teaching in a high school in Jinan as an example to explore the construction of ideological and political theory teaching in English course.Subjective factors mainly include English teachers’ awareness of ideological and political theory teaching in all courses and their countermeasures in teaching practice,while objective factors mainly refer to teaching material resources.Hence,English teachers are supposed to think about how to fully excavate ideological and political resources based on the existing teaching materials,and how to adopt corresponding teaching methods and strategies while improving ideological and political awareness.The study aims to address the following three questions:(1)What is the current situation of implementing ideological and political theory teaching in all courses in English reading teaching of the studied senior high school?(2)What ideological and political education resources can be explored in the reading materials of the current English textbooks?(3)What are the approaches to integrating ideological and political theory teaching into senior high school English teaching?A senior high school in Jinan is taken as an example in this study.In order to answer the first question and have a deeper understanding of the subjective factor in ideological and political theory teaching in all courses,the author randomly selects 30 English teachers to complete questionnaires to understand their cognition,attitude and implementation of ideological and political theory teaching in all courses.According to the problems found in the survey results,three teachers are interviewed.As for objective factors,the author analyzes the reading materials in the textbooks used in the school studied,and classifies and summarizes the ideological and political education factors contained,in order to answer the second question.Through the analyses of the results,the author combines the subjective factor with the objective factor and discusses the existing problems of the current implementation of ideological and political theory teaching in English course in the school studied: First,in the aspect of teachers,they lack deep understanding of its connotation;their exploitation and utilization of ideological and political resources in teaching materials are insufficient;ideological and political teaching methods lack diversity.Second,in the aspect of teaching materials,the emphasis of PEP textbooks on different domains of ideological and political theory teaching also has an impact on teachers’ understanding and utilization of teaching materials;the supplement and expansion of ideological and political resources in addition to the textbooks need further improvement.Third,in the aspect of evaluation,the evaluation for ideological and political theory teaching has not been emphasized enough and carried out.Based on the survey results and the problems above,the author answers the third question of the thesis.Taking Cheng Jiaolin’s study as the basis,the author tries to put forward the principles and approaches to ideological and political theory teaching in senior high school English teaching,with a teaching design case attached.The principles include socialist orientation,exerting a subtle influence,gradual and orderly progress,and elicitation.The approaches involve the following aspects:(1)improving teachers’ awareness and abilities of ideological and political theory teaching in all courses;(2)excavating and expanding the ideological and political resources in teaching materials;(3)combining ideological and political theory teaching with cultivation of students’ thinking quality;(4)optimizing ideological and political teaching methods;(5)emphasizing evaluation for ideological and political theory teaching in English course.The study provides ideas for the construction of ideological and political theory teaching in senior high school English teaching.However,because the study is carried out in a certain high school,and the number of samples is limited,there are some shortcomings.The principles and approaches need to be further confirmed and tested. |
