Libai is a great romanticist in our country's ancient history of literature. There are many aspects of style in his works, but the peculiar interest is a very outstanding characteristic in his dominant style. Libai's peculiar interest didn't emerge groundlessly, he succeeded the tradition in Chinese history of classical literature. This paper try to inquire the origin of history and the cause of formation of Libai's peculiar interest.This article including four parts.In the first part, the paper selects some important comment about Libai's peculiar interest, and then indicate that although their times background were not identical, and their literature ideological trend is distinct, so that they made different conclusion to Libai, they all approved his peculiar interest.The second part observes and studies the usage of strange in some major works of some important ideology schools: Confucianism, Taoism, Mohist, Legalism and Strategism, then indicate that in all of above-mentioned works, Taoist was the source of peculiar interest in posterity. In the same time, the paper introduces in broad outline the style of Zhuangzi, ChuCi, HanFu, HanYuefu, then point out that all of them have obvious characteristic of peculiar interest, and Libai's style took up their influence.The third part recounts that the connotation of strange has expanded in literature theory during Wei Jin South and North dynasties. The paper inspects the connotation and status of strange in Liuxie and Zhongrong's theoretical system, and then, indicates that in Liuxie's system, strange must accord with proper, but Zzhongrong had not demanded this. In the same time, both of their theory had promoted strongly to peculiar interest although there were quite a few difference between them.The fourth part sum up the political background and social fashions of Shengtang. The article believes that this kind of background and fashion offered a beneficial circumstance to Libai's peculiar interest, and his unique personality made most of it.To sum up, Libai 's peculiar interest developed from tolerant social background, abundant source of culture tradition and his out of the ordinary characteristic.
