Based on the previous study, guided by second language acquisition and interlanguage theories, the dissertation conducts a comprehensive and systematic study on the output volume and the error analysis of Zai+Location in interlanguage materials, supplemented by a comparison with the statistics of native Chinese language materials.According to different syntactic positions and meanings, the dissertation classifies the various functions and meanings of Zai+Location into seven patterns, and tries to find out the frequency distribution of each pattern. Then we study the output differences between interlanguage materials and native materials. The main body of the dissertation focuses on error analysis of the sentences with Zai+Location. As for the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic level, we classify errors into 5 groups, including omission, addition, substitution, misordering and blends. Then we calculate error rate and describe the tendency and features in the interlanguage materials. Lastly, we examine the causes of errors from the standpoints of negative transfer and incomplete application of rules.Based on the research results above, we investigate the language points concerning Zai+Location in an authorized Chinese teaching syllabus and two sets of Chinese textbooks, and thus make proposals on the teaching of Zai+Location, in hopes of making contribution to CSL pedagogy.
