This dissertation is a systematic study on Aspect in Changshu dialect. On the basis of Hopper's theory, it focuses on with what kind of attitudes the speaker say about the event and the expression of aspect he chooses, and it emphasizes that markers show different meanings distinguished from intuition. The first part explains the aspect and sub-aspects, and shows the research on aspects in mandarin and dialects in broad outline. The second part briefly describes Changshu's location, research method, aspects in Changshu dialect and some notes in this dissertation. The third part describes and analyzes ZE, ZAI, HAO, KAI, TUO, ZHAO in detail and explains the grammaticalization process of KAI and HAO. This part also shows the meanings of and application restriction on aspects, degree of markedness and the meanings of two markers when combined. The fourth part describes and analyzes LEHAI, LELANG, LELI, ZE, HAO. The fifth part shows the appliance and meanings of the aspectual markers in conclusion.
