Objective: The efficacy and security of using Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang decoction to cure the acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis patients with the phlegm-heat Yu Lung Syndromes is observed, and it is expected to provide the reference for clinical medicine. Methods:The clinical observation is divided into treatment group (using Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang Decoction to cure) which includes 30 cases and contrast group (using acute bronchitis particles to cure) which includes 30 cases. The random parallel contrast method is adopted to observe the efficacies of the 60 patients which are accepted from January 2009 to December 2009, by department of Respiratory Diseases, Jilin Provincial Sino-Western Joint Hospital. These patients are all in acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis (phlegm-heat Yu Lung Syndromes) with the disease symptoms, such as cough, sputum, wheezing, fever, etc, and the improvement of disease symptoms is observed. Results:The clinical observation result shows that the total effective rate of the treatment group is 86.67%, and the contrast group is 70.00%. The statistical analysis shows that the efficacy of the treatment group is more effective than the contrast group, and the treatment group is significantly shorter than the contrast group in onset time and disappearance time of cough, sputum, etc. The difference between the two groups is significant. Conclusion:This research indicates that Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang Decoction has some efficiencies such as anti-infection, relieving a cough, expectorant, antipyretic, sedative, etc, and can alleviate significantly the clinical symptoms of acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis patients. This kind of medicine without adverse reaction has good efficiencies, and has some development values.
