The objection is that evaluates the clinical effect objectivly and researchs the mechanism of treatment.ObjectiveCompare the clinical effect of treating the upper cervical spine chronic injury by acupotomy and acupuncture. Explore the effective method for the upper cervical spine chronic injury.MethodThe peripheral issue was dissoluted by the acopotomy and manipulated according to the special typing of acupotomy, and clinical random comparison. The effect was evaluated by the relief degree of the clinical symptom, the signs, the change of mouth-open projection and the vertebral doppler alcohol.Results60 cases were divided into the acupotomy group and the acupuncture group at random. 30 cases were treated by acupotomy and chiropractic,18 cases were cured,6 cases were effective,5 cases were improved,1 case was inefficiency. After the treatment, the cured rate was 60%, the effectual rate was 20%and the total effective rate was 97%. Another 30 cases were treated by acupuncture and chiropractic,10 cases were cured,4 cases were effective,8 cases were improved,8 cases were inefficiency. After the treatment, the cured rate was 33%, the effectual rate was 7%and the total effective rate was 73%. It proves that the effect of acupotomy is better than the effect of acupuncture.(P<0.05) The LADS was decreased significantly (P<0.05).ConclusionThe common cause of the upper cervical spine chronic injury is atlanto-axial joint or atlanto-occipital joint sublucxation and soft tissue injury around them that lead to symptoms, such as dizziness, vetigo, headache, etc. The injury of soft issue, atlanto-axial joint and atlanto-occipital joint sublucxation affect vertebral artery and peripheral sympathetic neuropathy. The peripheral issue can be dissoluted by the acopotomy and joints sublucxation manipulated by chiropractic. This experiment means that acupotomy is more effective than acupuncture for treating this kind of disease.
