Medical security system plays an vital role to millions of people's livelihood, health and well-being. Universal Healthcare for all the people is not only an important symbol of social civilization and progress, but also a fundamental part of building a harmonious society. As China's medical security system continues reforming, the current social medical insurance has covered the vast majority of the crowd, including urban workers, urban residents and rural residents. College students are the hope of our nation and the main force of socialist economic construction, so the state has repealed the original "exists in name only" publicly-funded medicare system, and entirely integrated college students into the social medical insurance system for urban residents recently. But in the process of colleges' active exploration about how to integrate students into medical insurance, the main ways are not uniform, and the security plane is lower. The research methods in this study including literature research, theoretical research, investigation research and expert interview. We selected six colleges' students in Jiangsu Province as the research objects, collected the real and effective information about current health status and medical security demand by issuing questionnaires to students, as well as interviewing with relevant leaders in schools, school hospitals and local Bureaus of Medical Insurance. On the bases of those preparations, we researched on the medical security system of college students. The results shows that: (1) A higher level of Two-week Morbidity Rate of college students; (2) The scarcity of health awareness and insurance awareness; (3) A number of poor students existing in colleges who can not afford medical insurance costs; (4) The school hospitals are inadequate in advanced equipment and professionals. In addition, the staff has a lower level of medical ethics. Because of those reasons, many students aren't satisfy with school hospitals; (5) Multi-factor study shows that students' Two-week Morbidity Rate is influenced by gender, health status, living habits and exercise time; Students' desires of insurance are influenced by per capita annual income in families, the enrollment of commercial medical insurance, the knowledge of medical insurance policies for college students, the burden of medical costs and personal health status.According to these problems about college students' health status and medical security in Jiangsu Province, we put forward some effective suggestions to promote medical security system at the end of this study: (1) Establishing a unified social medical insurance system for college students as soon as possible; (2) Encouraging the development of commercial medical insurance for students; (3) Attaching importance to the participaion of poor students, providing medical insurance benefits and medical assistance to them; (4) The government should increase the subsidies to the school hospitals, and convert them into community hospitals; (5) Schools should pay more attention to students' health education and precaution of diseases; (6) The government should issue relevant laws about the medical security system.
