Purpose:To assess the efficacy and safety of retinoids in the treatment of psoriasis.Material and methods:The databases were searched from CNKI(1998~2009),Chinese Biologyand Medieinedise(CBM)(1998~2009),VIP(1998~2009),the Skin Groups speeialised Register.References of above searched artieles,Chinese journal of dermatology,The Chinese journal of dermatovenereology,Journal of clinical dermatology,China journal of leprosy and skin diseases,Journal of Dermatology and Venereology,International journal of dermatology and venereology,were hand searched.Investigated the data,year by year,to obtain complete information.This text analyses the initial data by the method of metrology to investigate the efficacy and safety of retinoids in the treatment of psoriasis.Results:From 1999 to 2009,96 research papers about retinoids in the treatment of psoriasis were detected.Among the total,18 research papers were about retinoids in the treatment of psoriasis alone.The result showed the efficacy of retinoids in the treatment of psoriasis is different:psoriasis pustulosa is 92.3%~100%;erythroderma psoriaticum is 59.1%~100%;psoriasis vulgaris is 51.67%~91.6%;middle and severe psoriasis is 70%~78.9%.The documants show that retinoids more effect to psoriasis pustulosa and erythroderma psoriaticum.Conclusion:Retinoids is liked to be an effective treatment for psoriasis and the appearance of the side effect was little that remain about its safety. It is hoped that this review will highlight the inadequaey of psoriasis in general and encourage improvements in methodological quality and standards for reporting.
