Shaoyang Senile Osteoporosis Tcm Syndrome

Objective:To discuss the characteristic of distribution of senile osteoporosis in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) type of syndrome in Shaoyang territory of Hunan province,and analyze the relationship between the different TCM type and the bone mineral density(BMD).Methods:Formulate a questionnaire on the basis of differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome in TCM,and investigate 472 senile osteoporosis patients using the questionnaire,laying the TCM type and analysis the characteristic of TCM type distribution. Analyze dependability between the TCM type and the BMD of 452 senile osteoporosis patients.RESULTS:The main TCM type of 263 male senile osteoporosis patients were renal deficiency,asthenia of both the spleen and kidney,asthenia of both the liver and kidney respectively,among them 238 patients,which were renal deficiency,respectively were insufficiency of kidney-YANG, asthenia of both yin and yang,deficiency of kidney-YIN.The main TCM type of 209 female senile osteoporosis patients were renal daficiency. asthenia of both the liver and kidney,asthenia of both the spleen and kidney respectively,among them 186 patients,which were renal deficiency, were respectively insufficiency of kidney-YANG,asthenia of both yin and yang,deficiency of kidney-YANG.459 senile osteoporosis patients appeared the syndrome of blood stasis,accounting 97.24%of examination sample sum,and 256 male patients were combining the syndrome of blood stasis,1 female patient appeared the syndrome of blood stasis exclusively, 202 female patients were combining the syndrome of blood stasis.The BMD of lumbar vertebra of male senile osteoporosis patients of hepatic asthenia type was higher than that of the other type(P<0.01).The BMD of lumbar vertebra and Ward of male osteoporosis patients of insufficiency of kidney-YANG type was lower than both the insufficiency of kidney-YANG type and the asthenia of both yin and yang type(P<0.05). The BMD of different TCM type in female senile osteoporosis patients showed no significant difference nevertheles(P>0.05).Conclusion:The major TCM types of syndrome of senile osteoporosis were renal deficiency,combined with the blood stasis.The BMD of male senile osteoporosis patients displayed dependability with the TCM type, however the BMD of female senile osteoporosis patients showed no relationship.
