OBJECTIVE:We observe the effect of Wuling San on metabolic hypertension through animal experiments,and explore the possible mechanism.METHODS:Dividing fifty wistar rats into five groups at random:blank space group, model group,high,middle and low dose of Wuling San group.The blank space group were given ordinary feed;the model group and Wuling San group were given self-restraint high salt and high grease of feed.At the same time,the blank space group and the model group were given saline;the high,middle and low dose of Wuling San group were given 20%,10%,5% solution of Wuling San in water respectively and poured into the stomach 0.1ml/10g once a day in six weeks.We observe the changes of rats' blood pressure,body weight(W),body length(H),abdominal circumference,Lee's index(LI),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),fasting serum insulin(FINS),and insulin sensitivity index(ISI).RESULTS:the model group,when compared to the blank space group,exhibited significantly higher mean aortic pressure,systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure, body weight,abdominal circumference,fasting serum insulin(P<0.05);Obviously higher Lee's index and fasting plasma glucoseand(P<0.01);significantly lower insulin sensitivity indix(P<0.01).The high dose group showed lower mean aortic pressure,systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,fasting plasma glucose,fasting serum insulin than the model group(P<0.05);significantly lower body weight,abdominal circumference,Lee's index(P<0.01,P<0.01,P<0.001);and significantly higher insulin sensitivity indix(P<0.05). Wuling San in the medium and low dose group above indicators have improved to varying degrees than the model group.CONCLUSION:Wuling San reduces the metabolic hypertensive rats' blood pressure, Through improving body glucose and lipid metabolism and insulin resistance,increasing insulin sensitivity.
