Primary Sjogren's Syndrome, Syndrome Distribution

ObjectiveA preliminary research was done to study Chinese medical pattern characteristic of Primary Sj(o|¨)gren syndrome(pSS).MethodsAn epidemiological cross-sectional study was used in this research,with a special scale was de signed for the research to investigate the pattern distribution.ColleCt the basic information on the patients with pSS,Such as age,onset age,course,common symptoms,signs,main laboratory index,and so on.The three main syndromes contain syndrome of yin deficiency of liver and kidney, syndrome of deficiency of both Qi and Yin,and syndrome of yin deficiency and blood stasis.Other secondary syndromes were heat-toxicity,blood stasis and dampness-heat.All the data were collected and analyzed with application of SPSS13.0 statistical software.Results78 cases were collected in this research.In the main syndromes: syndrome of deficiency of both Qi and Yin was the most major one,which accounted for 52.6%,syndrome of yin deficiency and blood stasis was followed,and syndrome of yin deficiency of liver and kidney was fewest.Blood stasis was accounted to 35.2%,which was the most major one when having other secondary syndromes.There were great differences in age,course and onset age among three different syndromes,but With no statistical significance differences(P>0.05).Symptoms:Dry mouth,Dryness of eye,dryness in the nasal cavity, arthralgia,debilitation,and dry skin were the common syndromes.There was a significant difference in both debilitation and alopecia in different syndromes(P<0.05).Signs:rampant tooth> parotid glan swelling> oral ulcer> peliosis. Significant difference was existed in oral ulcer in different syndromes.Tongue demonstration:Most patients' tongue demonstrations were red,no tongue coating,and with fewer fluid.Red tongue demonstration was much more in syndrome of deficiency of both Qi and Yin and syndrome of yin deficiency of liver and kidney.While dark-red tongue was often appeared in syndrome of yin deficiency and blood stasis.Blood cells:33.3%patients had decline in WBC,while the average of blood cell count is in the normal range.RF,ESR,CRP,IgG,γ-globulin:On average,the mean number in the three groups were higher than normal.In the different syndromes,CRP,γ-globulin had significant difference.CRP:the mean number in syndrome of deficiency of both Qiand Yin was lower than the other two syndromes.Γ-globulin:the mean number in syndrome of yin deficiency and blood stasis was lower than the means in other two syndromes.Anti-nuclear antibodies:The positive rates in ANA,anti-SSA antibody,anti-SSB antibody were highest in syndrome of yin deficiency and blood stasis.Significant differences were occurred in both anti-SSA antibody and anti-SSB antibody.In syndrome of yin deficiency and blood stasis,the positive rate of anti-SSA antibody was higher than the other two groups.In syndrome of deficiency of both Qi and Yin,the positive rate of anti-SSB antibody was lower than the other two groups.Conclusion1 Dry mouth,Dryness of eye,dryness in the nasal cavity,arthralgia, debilitation,dry skin,and rampant tooth were the common syndromes in patients with pSS.Red,no tongue coating,with less fluid can usually be found in the patients' tongue demonstrations.2 The main syndrome in patients with pSS was the syndrome of deficiency of both Qi and Yin.And deficiency of both Qi and Yin was the main pathogenesis of this disease.3 Blood stasis was also a common syndrome.And blood stasis resistance was an important pathogenesis to pSS.4 According to the characteristics of pSS,it was supposed that we should Use the method of supplementing qi and nourishing yin as a principle in the treatment of pSS.Promoting blood Circulation and remove blood stasis is an important method,too.
