Aim: To evaluate the safety and effect of"Three-Seed Slim Formula"in treatment of simple obesity belonged to hyperactivity of heart-liver fire with phlegm retention.Methods: Bringing sixty cases of obesity into this clinical trial, and each case has been given the drug"Three-Seed Slim Formula"every week, total five weeks. Researcheres have recorded the weight and symptoms of each case every week. At the beginning and the end of this trial, every case has been examined blood routine test, urine routine test, alanine amiotransferase (ALT), glucose(GLU), Creatinine(CR), Cholesterol(CHO), triglycerides(TG), very low density lipoprotein(VLDL), low density lipoprotein(LDL), high density lipoprotein(HDL) and brain electricity activity mapping. This trial was the self-controlled trial. The data was analyzed by SPSS13.0 and the statistical methods are descriptive analysis, Paired-samples T-test, One-way ANOVA, Chi-square test and so on.Results: After five weeks, the average of weight loss was 2.49±1.89 kg; the average of Body Mass Index(BMI) loss was 0.90±0.65 kg/m2; Compared with the average of weight and BMI at the beginning, the average of weight and BMI at the end of the trial has significant difference. The cases under twenty years old had more weight loss than other cases. Compared male cases with female cases, weight loss and BMI loss had no significant difference. In the treatment of simple obesity, noticed effectiveness rate of"Three-Seed Slim Formula"to drop weight is 28%, effectiveness rate is 56%, ineffectiveness rate is 16%. The noticed effectiveness rate of"Three-Seed Formula"to drop appetite is 38%, effectiveness rate is 50%, ineffectiveness rate is 12%. The noticed effectiveness rate of"Three-Seed Formula"to alleviate constipation is 42%, effectiveness rate is 52%, ineffectiveness rate is 6%. In the course of this trial, clear side effect has not been observed.Conclusion: In the treatment of simple obesity belonged to hyperactivity of heart-liver fire with phlegm retention, the drug"Three-Seed Slim Formula"achieved good effect, and had no clear side effect. Traditional view believed that simple obesity belonged to Qi-deficiency and phlegm abundance was more.This trial demonstrated that simple obesity belonged to hyperactivity of heart-liver fire with phlegm retention was general, and therapeutic methods of clearing liver-stomach fire and eliminating phlegm could make weight loss significantly, and had no clear side effect.
