Objective To find a rational way to perform effective mental intervention on patients with breast cancer of the advanced stage to relieve pain and psychological problems. Methods Sixty patients were randomly divided into mental intervention group and control group. Psychological techniques were applied on the basis of analgesic treatment to perform mental intervention, the effect of which was evaluated by questionnaire on pain, anxiety and depression. Results Pain was obviously alleviated after mental intervention compared with control group (p<0.05); In mental intervention group, pain was relieved significantly after intervention compared with that before intervention (p<0.05). No statistical significance was found among the degree of anxiety and depression after comparison of the two groups and that before and after intervention (p>0.05).Conclusion Mental intervention can alleviate pain and improve analgesic effect in patients with advanced-stage breast cancer while this management can achieve little effect on their psychological status.
