Boschniakia himalaica Hook.f. et Thorns., a parasitic plant of genus Boschniakia (Orobanchacese), is mainly distributed in Yunnan, Tibet, Shanxi, Sichuan, Hubei provinces of China. Chemical constituents of this species have never been reported previously. The author has investingated the chemical constitutes and its quality determination. In this thesis, the chemical constituents of the ethanol extracts from B.himalaica were studied, 12 compounds were isolated by silica gel and preparative TLC . On the basis of analysis of NMR, MS data and measuring of physicochemical characters, their chemical structures were elucidated asα-amyrin (1), ursolic acid (2), 3β-acetoxyurs-28,13-olide (3), 3β-acetoxyurs-11-en-28,13-olide (4), 3β-acetoxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid (5), 3β-acetyloleanolic acid (6), 3β-acetoxyurs-12-en-28-al (7),β-sitosterol (8), (+)-pinoresinol monoglucoside (9), daucosterol (10), respectively. Of all these compounds, compound 1,3,4,5 were isolated for the first time from this genus, while 6,8 were isolated from B.himalaica for the first time.To develop a RP-HPLC method for the determination of (+)-pinoresinol monoglucoside in the barks of B. himalaica, 5 batches of B.himalaica were studied. The conclusion was that, the method is simple and can be used to determine (+)-pinoresinol monoglucoside with satisfactory accuracy and reproducibility.
