Objective To investigate the relationship between serum adiponectin andmean arterial pressure(MAP).Methods A total of 187 subjects were devided into four groups accordingto BP levels: optimal blood pressure group(n=38), high normal bloodpressure group(n=50), treated hypertension group(n=54) and untreatedhypertension group(n=45). Serum adiponectin and microalbuminuria weredetected by radioimmunology assay. Insulin resistant index defined asHOMA-IR and urinary concentration of microalbuminuria/urinaryconcentration of creatinine defined as albumin creatinine ratio(ACR) werecalculated. Results (1) Serum adiponectin decreased in proportion to BP increase andthe serum adiponectin level was significantly higher in treated hypertensiongroup than untreated hypertension group. (2)Correlation analysis showedthat adiponectin concentration was negatively correlated with MAP(P<0.01).(3) Multivariate regression analysis revealed that MAP and HOMA-IR wereindependent predictors of serum adiponectin level, they accounted for 57%variance of serum adiponectin. Conclusion MAP was the main determinant of serum adiponectin. Serum adiponectin level was negatively correlated to mean blood pressure. Objectives To investigate the correlation of adiponectin in serum andarterial compliance in subjects with hypertension. Methods Eighty-three hypertensives without diabetes were enrolled intomedication treatment group(n=49) and none-medication treatmentgroup(n=34). Serum adiponectin was detected by radioimmunology assayand arterial compliance was determined by the device of HDICVprofilorDO-2020. Insulin resistant index was defined as HOMA-IR.Results Medication treatment group had a higher concentration of serumadiponectin and level of C1,C2(P<0.01). LogC1 was correlated withadiponectin in Logl0 (r=0.54, P<0.01 ),HR (r=-0.41, P<0.05)and MAP(r=-0.40, P<0.05)); LogC2 was correlated with adiponectin in Log10(r=0.49, P<0.01 ),HOMA-IR (r=-0.40, P<0.05). Multivariate linearregression analysis showed that adiponectin in serum, HR and gender wereindependent predictors of large arterial compliance (R~2=0.39,P<0.01); Adiponectin in serum and gender were independent predictors ofsmall arterial compliance (R~2=0.44, P<0.01).Conclusions Adiponectin in serum was closely linked to arterialstiffness(C1, C2) in subjects with hypertension. Medication treatment for hypertensives inclined to increase concentration of serum adiponectin andlevel of C1,C2.
