This study focuses on the operation procedure and requirement of injectio ad acumen, which is one of the branches of acupuncture manipulation techniques. The aim of the study is to unify the technical terms and standardize manipulation technique in order to raise curative effect which can be achieved by standardizing the manipulation of injectio ad acumen and establishing the standard of performance of injectio ad acumen as the guidance for clinical practice.Firstly, the initial principle for this standard was defined according to the study of the basic knowledge of standardization and the skill of compilation of standardization. Under the guidance of the principle, all the pertinent literatures were arranged thoroughly and studied systematically, and related database together with computer retrieval system were set up. Then the first draft was completed. Secondly, point of views of experts and consultants not only in acupuncture field but also in correlated domains were collected widely by means of investigation to clinical practice in hospital, face-to-face conversation with physicians and nurses, telephone and letter consultations, academic discussion meetings and so on. All the feedbacks were summarized and analyzed to amend the draft and formed the second edition. Lastly, a injectio ad acumen technique training program based on the completed manuscript was carried out on some postgraduates majoring in acupuncture to testify the pragmatic utility of this manuscript. The postgraduates who had never got in touch with injectio ad acumen could learn to use it quickly according to the manipulation standard offered in this manuscript, which proved a verification principle that this technique could be confirmed in a short period.The form'X-x'was applied to mark different standard texts and started as'1-1'during the process. The former edition sequence was changed in accordance with frame structure. The number of manuscript was updated when contents were revised. There were 11 editions and 30 manuscripts of injectio ad acumen technique accomplished.The adjustment of informal text structure was according to the amendment of standardization technique. The adjustment of normal text structure (the requirement of injectio ad acumen manipulation) could be divided into two categories: one was change of subsections of standardization technique, while the other was classification of subsections of standardization technique. All the amendment, including contents option, adjustment of contents and modification of literal description, was made under the proposals of the experts and the unified formats of acupuncture manipulation technique standardization set by Chinese Acupuncture Academy. The last edition named as and .Conclusions were gotten as follows thorough the study: Injectio ad acumen was defined as a prevention and cure method by injecting medicine into the acupoints according to the function of both the acupoints and medicines under the guidance of the combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine theories. Disposable sterile injectors were selected and types were changeable according to patients'condition and manipulation requirements. The concentration and size of the medicines were in accordance with Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China. The total amount of medicine per injection into acupoints should less than the routine amount of intramuscular injection.The sequence of injectio ad acumen was described as follows: drawing medicineâ†'needling into skinâ†'adjusting direction for Qiâ†'injecting the medicineâ†'withdraw the injector. During the process, the physician could adjust his way of holding the injector and needling, together with the angle of needling. The physician should also pay attention to the sensation on the tip of the injector and remember the meaning of every kind of sensation for the sake of avoiding side effect while raising curative effect. Different injection methods were chosen by the physician according to different curative effect of injection mode.The course of treatment was set up by the nature and characteristic of the disease.It was forbidden to inject the medicine into blood vessels directly. Those acupoints that were prohibited for needling and those positions that had some breakage on the epiderm were all forbidden for injectio ad acumen.
