Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) is a kind of degeneration of knee joint disease, which often present in the surface of joint, edge and beneath the cartilage forming new bone.KOA occurs mostly in older people and as there is an increasing trend in globalize aging population ; there is also an increase in OA patient.Generally"pain"is the main symptom in KOA, if it is not attended in time or lack of effective treatment; symptom will aggravate and affect its movement function which bring great suffering to patient and affect their quality of life. Objective: This research uses random control clinical trial, through TCM combining therapy in treating KOA clinical research, scientific evaluations of its clinical therapeutic effect and exploring TCM combination therapy mechanism of action is used to provide evident for generalize TCM combination therapy.Methodology:According to the random comparison of clinical trial principle, patients that meet TCM diagnosis criterion will be randomly distribute into two group, which is therapeutic group 30 cases, using TCM combined therapy and control group 30 cases using acupuncture therapy. Using clinical symptom pain and correlative as main observation indexes, and observe result using statistic analysis to get a conclusion.Result: The total effective rate of TCM combined therapy is 93.33% and that of acupuncture therapy is 86.67%. the overall therapeutic effect between two groups has P<0.05,two groups have distinct difference, so the overall therapeutic effect of TCM combined therapy is better than acupuncture therapy; As to the observation indexes such as the pain while walking and discomfort, morning stiffness or discomfort while waking up and pain while sleeping in bed at night, comparison of two group both has a result of P<0.05 and has distinct difference,at the same time, the mean of therapeutic group is lower than control group's, so it shows TCM combined therapy is better than acupuncture therapy. As to the observation indexes such as swelling and restricted joint movement or discomfort when getting up from seat, comparison of two groups comparison of two group both has a result of P>0.05 and has no distinct difference, so it shows that TCM combined therapy is similar to acupuncture therapy. As to the amelioration of VAS, the comparison between three treatments been given and six treatment been given has no distinct difference, so it shows that three groups have therapeutic effect in the amelioration of VAS in therapeutic group. But in control group, the comprison between three treatments been given and six treatment been given still has distinct difference, while no distinct difference comparing with before treatment, it shows three treatments still have no distinct therapeutice effect in control group, so TCM combined therapy has earlier therapeutic effect than acupuncture therapy. Conclusion :1 TCM combined therapy and acupuncture therapy both have therapeutic effect and overall therapeutic effect of TCM combined therapy is better than acupuncture therapy. 2 As to the amelioration of the pain symptom of knee joint, the pain while walking and discomfort, morning stiffness or discomfort while waking up and pain while sleeping in bed at night, TCM combined therapy is better than acupuncture therapy. 3 As to the amelioration of swelling and restricted joint movement or discomfort, TCM combined therapy has similar effect to acupuncture therapy. 4 As to the amelioration of VAS, TCM combined therapy has earlier therapeutic effect and achicve better pain relief curative effect than acupuncture therapy. So it deserves to generalize in clinic.
