The title of the thesis is that"On the Form, Qi and Shen of the Heart in Huangdi Neijing". The thesis picks up all of the words"heart","form","Zang","Meridian","Qi", and"shen"appeared in Huangdi Neijing. Each of the words is the most important concept of human being. By making analysis on the appearance of each of the words respectively, classify Huangdi Neijing's theories on each of the words.According to Huangdi Neijing, the heart has its form and more importantly has its"Qi"called"heart-Qi". Huangdi Neijing simply admits the existence of the form of the heart, but the detailed structure of the form is neglected. Huangdi Neijing only pays great attention on the"heart-Qi", because"Qi"is believed to be the most fundamental and most important being. The"Qi"is formless but has energy. The"Qi"is a universal being. Everything in the world has its own special"Qi". The nature of everything is decided by its Qi, which can be regulated and detected according to the Huangdi Neijing. By touching the pulses on the wrists, one can feel the Qi and the changes of the Qi. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are used to regulate the Qi for the purpose of healing diseases.Qi is in motion according to its own special laws. Huangdi Neijing holds that Qi is responsible for all the physiological and pathological changes of human body. Any alteration of the form is caused by the changes of the Qi. The"heart-Qi"flows along the"heart meridian"all the time. And all the function of the heart is that of the"heart Qi"and the disease of the heart refers to the problems of the"heart Qi".The theory of Qi in Huangdi Neijing bears resemblance to the Quantum theory in modern physics. The latter holds that substance can be changed into energy and visa versa. It is most likely the Qi in Huangdi Neijing is a kind of being of energy, but not an existence of substance. The author suggests pay more attention to the studies on the patients with a transplanted heart. It is very important to carry out a carefully planned study on the pulses and acupuncture points of the patients with a transplanted heart. It is believed that such studies can help find more about both"heart Qi"and the meridians. And it is most likely that such studies can make great breakthrough not only in Chinese medicine and also in modern medicine theories.
