Objective: To explore the specific location of the fac ial areas in the nine partial face-to-face diagnosis methods in the internal classic, the etiology and pathogenesis of the syndromes reflected by various forms and colors,as well as the matching principle between the facial areas and the corresponding meridians, viscera, limbs, joints and five bodies,to clarify the principle and standard of partial face-to-face diagnosis in the internal classic,so as to provide a reference for the theoretical research and clinical application of the partial face-to-face diagnosis methods in the Internal Classic of the Yellow Emperor. Methods: Mainly use the method of “literature reading and sorting ”.The original meaning of Neijing can be restored to the greatest extent through exegesis of three versions of Huangdi Neijing,A-b Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Huangdi Neijing Taisu, referring to the related annotated works, diagnostic monograph and clinical experience of doctors.Results:(1)Nine partial face-to-face diagnosis methods in Neijing are explored: facial orientation syndrome differentiation method(Suwen,ci're chapter),cheekbone-cheek syndrome differentiation method(Suwen,ci're chapter),facial chest-hypochondrium-diaphragm-abdomen syndrome differentiation method(Suwen,ci're chapter),facial wind diseases differentiation method(Suwen, fenglun),facial six hollow organs differentiation method(Lingshu,Shic huan),five sense organs syndrome differentiation method(Lingshu, five reading and five emissaries),facial viscera and limbs syndrome differentiation method(Lingshu, five colors),Que-Di syndrome differentiation method(Lingshu, five colors),facial five bodies syndrome differentiation method(Lingshu, abnormal defence Qi);(2)to sum up thecorresponding syndromes of the nine facial areas include forehead, glabella, nose, area between nose and lip, mouth and lip,Yi,area under the eye, cheekbone and cheek in the Internal Classic;(3)to sum up the complexions of five Zang organs. Conclusion: There is a common principle in the partial face-to-face diagnosis of the internal classic, that is,to make two horizontal lines along the canthus and mentolabial sulcus which divide the face into three parts: the upper part stands for sky, matching body surface and upper-jiao,including skin, fur, head, neck, heart, lung, chest and milk, which is the part of lucid Yang, showing dull color is fierce;the middle part stands for human, matching shoulder, back, upper limb and the middle and lower focus, including liver, gall, spleen, stomach, diaphragm, intestines, kidneys, bladder, uterus and two lower orifices, which are the pivot of the rising and falling of Yin and Yang;the lower part stands for land, matching lower limbs, which is the part of turbid Yin,showing bright color is fierce.By applying partial face-to-face diagnosis into clinical practice based on this principle,we can not only judge the location of disease, but also judge the constitution and prognosis.
