Liu Wei Di Huang Pills Pills, Metyrapone Treatment For Breast Cancer Combined Wai Clinical Study Of The Menopausal Syndrome

Purpose: To observe the therapeutic effect of Liuwei Dihuang Wan combined with Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan in the treatment of breast cancer patients accompanied by perimenopausal syndrome.Method: 80 breast cancer patients matched with the inclusion criteria were allocated randomly into two groups. Patients in treating group took Liuwei Dihuang Wan combined Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan orally, and Patients in control group were given follow-up observation. Then, The therapeutical effects were evaluated two months after the administration of treatment. The main endpoints were kuppermann symptom, quantity life of, adverse affects, and the level of estrogen. Result: At the end of treatment, there were 37 valid cases in treating group which can be calculated, and 38 in control group. The results showed that:①Kuppermann symptom rate:Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in kuppermann symptom rate between the two groups. After treatment, in the treatment group the kuppermann symptom rate was obviously lower than before (P<0.05), and the clinical relief rate (obvious + valid) reached 86%; whereas in the control group the rate was not improved after treatment without statistical significance. The symptom improvement rate was 86.49% and 0% respectively for the treatment and control group and the group difference was statistically significant (P<0.01), which indicated the positive effect of Liuwei Dihuang Wan combined with Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan on perimenopausal syndrome. From this study we also found that the symptoms in kuppermann symptom rate measures in treatment group had improved markedly, including hot flush, perspiration, insomnia, irritation, depression, fatigue, palpitation, and etc. ②Quality of Life: After treatment, the kuppermann rate in treated group improved obviously than before, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). However, in the control group there was no statistically significant change (P>0.05). The symptoms improvement rate was 43.2% and 7.9% respectively for the treatment and control group with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05), indicating Liuwei Dihuang Wan combined with Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan can improve the quality of life for the patients.③Hormone level: We observed the effect on estrogen among patients with regular menstrual periods. Before treatment, the estrogen levels of two groups were not significantly different. After treatment there was no significant change of estrogen level in Liuwei Dihuang Wan combined with Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan treated group compared with pre-treatment; the same is true for the control group, both without statistically significant difference, which indicated the Liuwei Dihuang Wan combined with Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan had no noticeable effect on estrogen level.④toxic and adverse effect: In both groups, there was no obvious change in hemogram, hepatic and renal function, ECG and etc, between pre-treatment and after treatment, and the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05), which indicated that the Liuwei Dihuang Wan combined with Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan had no impairment on hematopoietic system, heart, liver, and kidney. Conclusion Using Liuwei Dihuang Wan combined with Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan to treat patients breast cancer accompanied by perimenopausal syndrome, can relieve hot flush, perspiration, insomnia, fatigue, abnormal mood and other perimenopausal symptoms, improve the quality of life while at the same time, for breast cancer patients, it has no marked effect on estrogen level and no toxic and adverse effect..
