Preliminary Study. Zhensheng Typhoid Academic Characteristics

Mr. Zhensheng Shi's study of Theory on exogenous febrile disease is based on Neijing and Shanghailun, comprehending the text thoroughly. He proposed some unique opinions. Mr. Shi thought that syndrome-differentiation of six meridians in Shanghanlun was derived form Neijing. it was based on Neijing, at the same time, was fully developed, and it was constant with the clinic. The essence of the six meridians in Shanghanlun was reflection of rise and fall of the essential energy and the evil energy in the course of acute febricity, which reflected the relationship between the strength contrast of the essential energy and the evil energy and changes of the patients'condition. They could not be mixed up. Mr. Shi's cognition of diseases of six meridians is not confined to the views of one person, but discusses the essence of the diseases or six meridians subjectively. Especially of the Jueyin disease, he pointed out something that had never been said. Mr. Shi thought that the foundation of the Jueyin disease should be the end of Yin and the begin of Yang ,and the diseases of liver and pericardium, so the focus of treatment should be based on them. These are conformed with the clinic. And they are the very original opinions of Mr. Shi. He also advocated that we should not be pestered with the characters, but should always be linked with the clinic. It deserves our deep thought.During his clinic, Mr. Shi claimed the unity of cold-warm syndrome. The syndrome-differentiation of six meridians could be distinguished as a guide of the syndrome-differentiation of Wei,Qi,Yin,Xue and syndrome-differentiation of Triple Energizer. The three methods of differentiation syndromes were coherent in the theoretical source, but different in the aspect of clinical observation. Mr. Shi thought both febrile diseases and fever were common names of the exogenous diseases. He divided the patterns of syndromes of the syndrome-differentiation of six meridians in the course of acute febricity systematically, blended the exogenous fever into the syndrome differentiation of six meridians, which directs the treatment of the exogenous fever. He also proposed the twelve methods of the exogenous fever. The twelve methods include the above three ways of syndrome differentiation, and it is the most widespread therapeutic principle used in clinic nowadays. In addition, he raised some architectonical and integrate therapies which met the need of practice.Mr. Shi's expert skills are from his penetrating comprehension of the classics. He is good at prescription and medication, he could use the formulas of Shanghan and Wenbing efficiently. Mr. Shi is well known for treating kidney diseases, but he also treats the indicated diseases of medical department very well. He broke the law of treating febrile diseases following Zhongjing, endogenous diseases following Dongyuan, indicated diseases following Danxi, and applied the formulas of Shanghan and Wenbing in the treatment, which can be called holding one to govern the world. It also sets up an example for us.
