Objective: Study the relationship between ultrashort wave and SANFH, blood VEGF, HE dye and immunohistochemistry study for rabbit collagen type I of the femoral head tissue by employing a combined action of horse serum and corticosteroid in experimental rabbits, to further investigate the pathogenesis of steroid-induced osteonecrosis.Methods: Thirty adult New Zealand white rabbits, weighing 2. 5~3. 5kg, were randomly divided into three groups. Group A (n=10) is the normal control group. Group B (n=10) was given 15ml/kg of horse serum intravenously two times at 10 days intervals. Group C (n=10) was given the same treat as Group B and two weeks after the second serum injection. Methylprednisolone was injected intraperitoneally by 40mg/kg/day for three consecutive days. Then we give ultrashort wave therapy to Group C at the beginning of the sixth week for 21 days. Levels of VEGF in serum were examined by ELISA at the beginning of the tenth week; HE dye and immunohistochemistry study for rabbit collagen type I of the femoral head tissue were performed at the tenth week.Results: 1) The level of VEGF in rabbits serum of group B was significantly statistic different (P<0. 01) compared with group A and C in the tenth weekend beginning, while Group A has no significantly statistic difference with group C. 2) All the femoral heads we takened out were intact at the ending of the twelfth weeked. The surface of femoral heads was white, slice and firm in group A; while it was superficially blue and thin in group B; slightly white and intermedial hard between group A and B in group C. 3) The wdth of bone trabecula in group B and C was cut down compared with group A significantly (P<0. 01), while it was widen in group C compared with group B significantly(P<0. 01). 4)The thickness of femoral head cartilage was the same result with the wdth of bone...
