Object: To study the effects of dynamic hip screw(DHS) and skeletal traction treatment for treatment of senile femoral intertrochanteric fracture.Method:Based on Jiangsu' hospotal of TCM . Thirty cases with femoralintertrochanteric fracture from 2004.08-2005.10 were divided into two groups randomly according to different treatment.Fifteen patients were treated surgically with DHS.Fifteen patients were treated conservatively with skeletal traction treatment.Comparing and analyzing the samplings' sex, age, the primary affection, incorporating, the time in hospital and the function of resuming, dealing with statistically and then get the result.Result: The effective rates and the incidence rates of coxa adducta of dynamichip screw(DHS) and skeletal traction treatment for treatment of senile femoral intertrochanteric fracture had no distinct difference by treating statistically (P>0.05), the superordinary rates of group DHS were significantly higher than that of group skeletal traction treatment(P<0.05),the length of stay(LOS) of group skeletal traction treatment was longer than that of group DHS, and the contrast had prominent difference(P<0.01).Conclusion: The senile patients with femoral intertrochanteric fracture shouldbe operated as far as possible. DHS has function of compression and sliding, which has benefit for early mobilization and weight loading .The process of internal fixation of DHS is simple and short,so it is relatively an ideal implant for treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fracture at present.. Considering the constitution and economics of some patients, the skeletal traction treatment is nessary in some cases.
