1. Research BackgroundThe middle-aged and aged people are high occurrence crowd suffering from upper digestive tract diseases, especially tumor.Early explicit diagnosis and treatment have important significance in improving the prognosis and fibergastroscope is one of the methods that can diagnose specificity of upper digestive tract diseases the most accurately. But because of mechanical and psychological stress, in gastroscopy there often appear side reactions such as nausea and vomiting, or even continuous convulsion of esophagus and pylorus as well as resistance to gastroscope intubation under direct gastroscope observation. Therefore, to alleviate side reaction of gastroscopy effectively is the key for success of intubation, satisfaction of check-up and acceptance of patients.Pharynx and larynx anesthesia, intravenous anesthesia as well as calmative and antispastic are generally applied before operation in Western medicine. But after pharynx and larynx anesthesia, it is not easy for a patient to cooperate actively with the doctor in the action of swallowing. Moreover, this method has no influence in gastric peristalsis and is ineffectual to improve side reactions of gastroscopy in patients with fierce gastric peristalsis. The intravenous anesthesia may possibly cause allergic shock or respiration inhibition. Application of atropine may possibly either cause or aggravate prostate diseases or glaucoma. The above factors all increase greatly the risk of gastroscopy to middle-aged and aged people. Therefore, it is imperative to explore new preoperative preparation methods so as to alleviate side reactions of gastroscopy.Acupuncture therapy to nausea and vomiting has a history of several thousand years and has accumulated abundant clinical experience. This therapy is simple and convenient, easy to be manipulated with accurate curative effect. It does not have any side reactions and are more suitable to middle-aged and aged people. "Zusanli"(ST36) can be used to treat abdominal diseases. Present research believes that puncturing "Zusanli"(ST36) can regulate benignly vagus nerve nuclear group, frequency and wave amplitude of gastric peristalsis, inhibit significantly abnormal rising of the stomach-qi and reduce side reactions of gastroscope with more remarkable effect than other acupoints. In this topic I adapted scientific research methods as well as objective clinical evaluation standard and conducted clinical research in the function of "Zusanli"(ST36) to prevent and treat side reactions of gastroscopy for middle-aged and aged people.2. Research MethodsScientific methods of randomization, single-blind, control and multi-center were applied to establish a treatment group by puncturing "Zusanli"(ST36) and a control group. I mainly observed and researched vital signs, intraoperative symptoms in gastroscopy, visible changes under gastroscope, pain after gastroscope and other feelings to make statistical analysis.3. Research Results3.1 Instant Improved Conditions during GastroscopyAltogether 134 people have received gastroscopy, which included 66 in the control group and 68 in the control group. The effect of puncturing "Zusanli"(ST36) mainly occurred instantly during check-up indicated by indexes such as reactions of scope entering, reactions of globus entering, gastric secretion, pain and postoperative reactions. These in the treatment group are significantly superior to those in the control group.3.2 Conditions after 1 to 7 Days of GastroscopeImproving of diet, pain and intraday total integral is not significant ,except the first day postoperative reactions.3.3 Evaluation of SafetyStatistics of occurrence rate and serious degree of harmful incidents, abnormal changes of physiological indexes and the scores for safety evaluation indicates that no significant differences were found between the safety of the treatment group and that of the control group.4.ConcIusionThe research results indicate that the instant effect of puncturing "Zusanli"(ST36) to prevent and treat side reactions of middle-aged and aged people during gastroscopy is significant, but after 1 to 7 days no significant differences were found between the conditions of the treatment group and those of the control group.Considering that side reactions of middle-aged and aged people for gastroscopy mainly occur instantly during check-up, this method is worth promoting and applying in clinic.
