Umbelliferae plants are annual or perennial herb and distributed temperate to tropical zone. It contains 300 genera and 30000 species or more and it is widely distributed all over the world. Umbelliferae plants mainly contain essential oil, coumarin, chromone and glycoside. First, the progress of chemical constituents, pharmacological activity and clinical applications on Umbelliferae plants were reviewed in this paper. Second, detailed and systematic researches about the liposolubility fraction of Heracleum rapula have been done. It is important to offer the scientific basis for resource exploiting, clinic using and illuminating the relationship between civilian use and chemical composition. Third, the criterion of quality on the Fang-feng was formulated in this articleHeracleum rapula was recorded in 《dian nan ben cao》 for the first time. It is recorded "acrid-bitter flavor and warm-natured. It strings twelve channels and collaterals. It can cure opisthotonos, relieve pathogenic, get rid of the pain all over the body and cure the pain of bilateral hypochondria." Heracleum rapula is perennial herb, it mainly distributed in Yunnan and Xizang provinces, ect. The root of Heracleum rapula as Yunnan Qiang-huo can prevent cough, expel wind-evil and remove wetness, activate collaterals, relieve pain, spasmolysis and invigorate stomach, ect. It mainly indicate fracture, low back pain, stomach-ache, rheumatic arthritis, suffocative, cough, chronic tracheitis, chronic bronchitis and acute tonsillitis, ect. It has been proved by pharmacological experiments that it extract possesses an spasmolysis anti-inflammatory bacteriostatic effect.By employing modern chromatographic techniques, constituents were isolated from the EtOH parts by rechromatography on silica gel and ODS. The structures of them were elucidated by means of physical, chemical properties and spectral data (UV, IR, EI/MS, FAB/MS, 'H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR, DEPT, ¹H-¹H COSY, ¹H-¹³C COSY, NOESY and ROESY ). In this article 26 constituents have been isolated and 23 compounds were identified. They were p-sitosterol(2),.stigmasterol(5), oleanolic acid(24), ferulic(13), bergapten(l), osthol(3), 8-geranyloxypsoralen(4), xanthotoxin(6), imperatorin(7), isoimperatorin(8), phellopterin(9), cnidilin(10), scopoletin(11), xanthotoxol(12), ( + )-marmesin(14), (±) — oxypeucedanin(15,16), (±)-heraclenol(18,19), isopimpinellin(22), pabularinone(23), rivulobirinA(21) andumbetricoumarin (20). Among them, compound 20 was a new compound, compound 2, 5, 24, 13, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 18, 19, 23 and 21 were isolated from this plant for the first time.Fang-feng, the root of saposhnikovia divaricata, which is pungent and sweet in flavour, slightly warm in property, acting on the urinary bladder, liver and spleen channels. It shows the effects of relieving exterior syndromes by pathogenic wind, removing dampness to relieve pain, and expelling endogenous wind to relieve spasm. It is used for the treatment of catching a cold, headache, dizzy, pain of the whole body, combine the practical condition of manufacturer, and refer to the traditional evaluation criterion. This article verified the normalization research of Fang-feng's processed product and determined production technology.The criterion of quality on ten batches processed product of Fang-feng were formulated in this article. On the base of Fang feng's quality criteria of < Pharmacopoeia of P.R.O, 2005 edition, five compounds of prim-o-glucosylcimifugin, 4'-o-p1-D-glucosyl-5-o-methylvisamminol, cimifugin, 5-o-methylvisamminol and sec-o-glucosylhamaudol were used as TLC qualitation identification. Four compounds of prim-o-glucosylcimifugin, 4'-o-|3-D-glucosyl-5-o-methylvisamminol, cimifugin and sec-o-glucosylhamaudol were used as HPLC quantitation identification. And the medical material and processed product of Fang-feng were detected by ash content, moisture content and its extract.
