Zhu Zhen Heng (1281~1358) was born in Yi Wu city, Zhe Jiang. He was one of the four distinguished physicians in the Jin and Yuan dynasties .He had written numerous articles about medical knowledge, there are still useful till now. ObjectiveZhu Dan Xi had accomplished in miscellaneous internal disease, so his experiences in miscellaneous internal disease were written on his article, there for by researching and analyzing his article and experience will help us to get knowledge of treatment concerning with diverse medical subjects or aspects MethodZhu Dan Xi's article discourse upon his theory at"Ge Zhi Yu Lun","Ju Fang Fa Hui"and"Ben Cao Yan Yi Bu Yi",then applies his research and analyze his theory to the clinical usage.Content1. Four most important diagnostic methods– excels to use these four methods and be adept to them.The four diagnostic methods are including inspecting, listening and smelling, asking, pulse taking and palpation to patient. Zhu Dan Xi went through the four diagnostic, following by analyzing the data based on four diagnostic methods, in order to diagnose the disease that disturb the patient, and came to the conclusion of what medicine should be given to the patient. This process is call"determination of treatment based on differentiation of syndromes". Zhu Dan Xi insisted on the practice of the four diagnostic methods and very familiar with these four methods. He explains that the observation of bodily figure and behavior of the patient is very important due to the reason of different patients have distinguished constitution. This process will help doctor to decide how to take the pulse; corpulent patients need to take their floating pulse, while thinness patients need to take their deep pulse. There must be suspicious of health problem if impetuous people's pulses appear loose and slow; while same suspicious of health problem should be taken consideration if gentle people's pulses appear impetuous. Zhu Dan Xi explains that corpulent people always get dampness disease, thinness people always get fire disease; People who with bright and pale face complexion normally get deficiency of lung-qi problem while people with dark and black face complexion always get kidney-qi over plus.Zhu Dan Xi also adept and pays attention to patients pulse, he considers taking pulse must press till bone.
