OBJECTIVE : To assess the diagnose value of AD technique in carotid atherosclerosis plaque tissue characterization and the evaluate value of AD technique in the risk of carotid plaque. METHODS: With color Doppler Ultrasonography,using AD technique, the AD values of 50 pationts with 76 carotid plaques, vessel wall and blood were measured. Compare the IBS and IBS% of plaque and the incidence of different type of plaques in patients with ischemic stroke and patiens without ischemic stroke. RESULTS: 1. The incidence of carotid artery atherosclerosis plaque: flat- plaque(38.11%);soft-plaque(27.63%);hard-plaque(22.37%); ulcer-plaque(11.84%) 2. There are statistical intergroup differences in the AD values among the plaques: hard-plaque >flat-plaque> soft-plaque> ulcer-plaque 3. The IBS and IBS% of plaque in patiens with ischemic stroke is lower than patients without ischemic stroke.There are more soft-plaque and ulcer-plaque in patients with ischemic stoke. CONCLUTIONS: 1. AD technique can evaluate the pathological components of carotid artery atherosclerosis plaque. 2. AD technique can evaluate the risk of carotid artery atherosclerosis plaque. 3. AD is a ultrasonic tissue characterization technique with high sensitivity,objectivity and accuracy .OBJECTIVE: To explore the risk factores of carotid artery atherosclerosis plaque in ischemic stroke patients. METHODS: 48 patients with ischemic stoke were dropped into two groups by using ultrasonographic methods(30 with plaque and 18 without plaque ). The arotid artery IMT,blood pressure, blood glucose , blood lipid, Fib, CRP were determined. Multivariate noncondition stepwise logisticmodel analysis was made after single varible analysis. RESULTS: Carotid IMT, age , TC, LDL-CH, Fib, CRP level and the incidence of hypertention and diabetes were significantly higher in ischemic stroke pationts with carotid artery plaques than without plaques(P<0.05); Multiple logistic regression analysis releaved the most important risk factors of plaques were CRP(OR=3.546,P=0.035) and Fib (OR=1.074,P=0.012)level.CONCLUSION : The main risk factors of carotid artory atherosclerosis plaque are almost the same as AS, such as age , hypertention ,diabetes, high lipid ,high Fib and CRP level and increace of carotid IMT; CRP and Fib may play an crucial role in the development of carotid artery atherosclerosis plaque.
