ObjectiveIschemic stroke do harm to people's health. It has four characters namely high attack rates, high case fatality rates, high mutilation rate and high recurrence rates. Acupuncture has a positive therapeutic effect on this disease. This topic approached mechanism of action of head points acupuncture to it and provided scientific theoretical foundations for head points acupuncture therapy to it. This all based on clinical therapies, clinical observation and detection of P-EP and cAMP both prior treatment and post-treatment.MethodsSixty patients were selected. They were randomly divided into tow groups: head points acupuncture group and drug control group. Head points acupuncture group selected Baihui point to Qianding point and Shuaigu point to Xuanli point at the side of focus of infection. After Deqi, we connected a G6805-II Electroacupuncture Therapeutic Apparatus with continuous waves and intensity of 1 mA, frequency of 100/min. The treatment time is 30 minutes. Once a day, fourteen times is a course of treatment. Drug control group adopted intervenous drop infusion with ligustrazine injection 120 mg and 5% Glucose 250 ml. Once a day, fourteen days is a course of treatment. After two course of treatment, we detected two groups' change of P-EP and cAMP in blood plasm both prior treatment and post-treatment and approached the dependability of the change of P-EP and cAMP in blood plasm both prior treatment and post-treatment.Result1. Excellence rate of head points acupuncture group was 83.4%, excellence rate of drug control group was 63.3%. There is significant difference (p<0.01) . 2. To the recovery of hemiparalysis, compared with the two groups themselves both prior treatment and post-treatment, there is significance. There is significant difference in head points acupuncture group (p<0.01) . To the therapy of aphasia, there isdifference in head points acupuncture group only (p<0.05) . All this showed that the curative effect of head points acupuncture group was obviously better than drug control group's. 3. Ischemic stroke patients' cAMP in blood plasm was lower than the normal group'. After therapy, the content of cAMP rose and got close to normal value. There is significant difference(p<0.01). 4. Both two groups' β-EP in blood plasm rose before treatment, compared with normal group, there is significant difference(p<0.01) . After treatment, they had a decrease tendency, especially head points acupuncture group. Head points acupuncture group's value got close to normal one. 5. After treatment, the content of cAMP rose significantly but the content of β-EP decreased significantly. There was a significantly negative correlation between them.(r=-0.974)Conclusion1. Head points acupuncture therapy had an advantage in clinical excellence rate and curative effect of hemiparalysis than drug control group. 2. Head points acupuncture therapy can raise the content of cAMP in blood plasm significantly, decrease the content of β-EP in blood plasm significantly and get close to normal value. It can relieve brain edema, repair focal zone brain tissue, recover blood supply and improve clinical symptom. This may be one of the important mechanisms of head points acupuncture therapy. 3. There was a significantly negative correlation between cAMP and β-EP in blood plasm. After acupuncture therapy, there was also an optimum negative correlation between them. It shows that head points acupuncture therapy may implement therapeutic action by regulation the content of β-EP and cAMP and their relationship.
